Swim Programs

Welcome to the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club’s pool! With gasping views of the Carpinteria foothills, the Junior Olympic size pool sits nestled opposite of the lush landscaped Clubhouse grounds.

The pool is warmed to a comfortable 84 degrees year-round. There are 2 lap swim lanes, a spacious Jacuzzi, and a swim lesson program. Swim lessons are offered to all ages- both to the young and to the elder and wiser. Lessons operate on a year-round basis to ensure consistency in the growth of the students. They take time, effort, and patience for results. Lessons are an essential service and an investment in a student's future.

Lessons are done at the student's pace of comfort to build an organic love of the water and willingness to improve. The program is structured to tailor each lesson to the student's needs through repetition, consistency, achievements, and of course, FUN! Every student learns at their own pace which awards success through milestones we accomplish together

Our New Swim Instructor Rochelle King is ready to teach your children.

As an athlete, Rochelle has always loved being in the water. She began her teaching career as a volunteer swim instructor, absorbing tricks and tools of teaching from a variety of talented instructors. Over the years, Rochelle has taught little ones, adults, and novice swim teams at the following locations: Santa Barbara Swim Club, The Tennis Club of Santa Barbara, and the Bay Club in Redwood Shores. Rochelle has continued swimming over the years and occasionally competes at a Masters meet. In addition to her love of swimming, Rochelle raced prone paddleboards for years. One of her most memorable races was the World Championship in San Francisco. The course took the paddlers around Angel Island and Alcatraz, which is known for having crazy currents, and into the beach to finish. Rochelle isn’t racing much these days but is still involved in the local ocean community.
In addition to her love of aquatics, Rochelle is a certified personal trainer and pilates instructor. At the Bay Club, Rochelle taught a Women's on Weight class, which combined camaraderie, weight training, cardio, and stretching. Rochelle ran her own personal training business for eight years. Her success as a trainer combines patience, knowledge, and creativity when designing client workouts.

Like so many of us, COVID-19 brought change to our lives. Rochelle and her family decided this would be the perfect time to sail through the Caribbean. Her family sailed, worked, and homeschooled for almost two years while exploring different countries. Her husband and two daughters loved the experience! Now based in Carpinteria, Rochelle spends her time homeschooling her two girls, baking, surfing, and enjoying a very active family life with two busy kids!

Rochelle
