A Message from your General Manager

In light of the current situation we have made some management adjustments to best suit our club. In efforts to cross utilize our talented managers, as well as connect our clubhouses, we are pleased to introduce you to our new Tennis Clubhouse & Membership Manager, Shayna Cogan. As well as reintroduce you to Molly Quigley, who is our Polo Clubhouse Manager. These two roles have been shaped to bring together the clubhouses (Tennis & Polo), lead our staff and refine our focus for customer service for our members and guests.

Some of you who have been active at the club recently may have had the pleasure to meet these two wonderful leaders. We understand it's an adjustment and wish Joanie the absolute best in her endeavors. What she has done for the club over the years has created a warm and supportive environment. We are incredibly grateful for all that she has done and look forward to seeing her hit the tennis ball on our courts soon.

During this transition, we are confident these two leaders will support you along your way. I invite you to get to know a little about Shayna & Molly, by reading their stories of how they got here.

Meet Your New Team

Shayna Cogan, Tennis Clubhouse Manager

Shayna Cogan is a true hospitality professional having worked in the industry for 15 years and is now very excited to join the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club as the Tennis Clubhouse Manager. Born and raised in Oxnard, she graduated from Ventura College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration before transferring to San Jose State University, graduating with Dean’s honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Management. In partnership with SJSU as part of an extensive internship program with Pebble Beach Resorts, Shayna joined the Special Event Management Team. As such, she worked the prestigious AT&T National Pro-Am, Concours d’ Elegance and the Food & Wine events. Shayna then relocated to her beloved Santa Barbara and worked for San Ysidro Ranch for 5 years as Outlet Manager overseeing both award-winning restaurants and guests of the hotel. Then offered the position to open a restaurant, she became Restaurant and Bar Manager for Convivo at the Santa Barbara Inn. Shortly thereafter, she then partnered with Empty Bowl at the Public Market to be General Manager of the sit-down sister restaurant, Khao Kaeng on Coast Village Road in Montecito. Due to tough times, the restaurant closed and she is now looking forward to her new position at the Tennis Clubhouse.

Shayna is recently married to Brandon Cogan, Executive Sous Chef at Birnam Wood, who together share their love of their French Bulldog, Luke. In her spare time, she plays in a weekly bocce league at Arnoldi’s restaurant, attends Dodgers games, and being a Sommelier, loves to go wine tasting.

Molly Quigley, Polo Clubhouse Manager

Molly Quigley has been working for the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club for seven years. Her passion and pride for our beloved Club speaks volumes. Molly was born and raised in Seattle. During her childhood years, she frequently visited our beautiful slice of paradise, and in third grade she knew that Santa Barbara was going to become her home.

Molly will never forget her first Polo match in our very own grandstands, but little did she know that one day she would become our Polo Clubhouse Manager. Molly attended college with the goal of becoming a teacher, but her passion changed, and she found herself as a partner in reinventing a local restaurant. The food and beverage industry brought a sparkle to her eye, it simply felt like it was meant to be. From there it was opening a catering business and then she finally found her home at the Polo Club where she enjoys every aspect of this special place. Molly became our Executive Chef, then our Food & Beverage Manager and is now thrilled with her new role as our Polo Clubhouse Manager.

In Molly’s spare time she enjoys her love for horses and ridding, smiling, laughing and brining people together with food. She is looking forward to supporting our members in her new role with continuing a warm atmosphere here at her second home.
